Small groups are where we learn to follow Jesus so that we can lead others to follow Jesus. In small group every member is a leader and every leader is a member. We share leadership responsibility so we can all grow in leadership ability. We learn from one another and we care for one another. This is how we make disciples and multiply disciple makers at First Sachse.

Why small groups matter.

We believe that ministry is accomplished by people not professionals. Every-member-ministry is the biblical model of the church according to the New Testament. In small groups we make disciples and multiply disciple makers by focusing on four simple disciplines.

We read Scripture together.

Reading the Bible is an important spiritual discipline. In small groups we read Scripture together at every gathering. Each week one of our group members volunteers to read the Scripture out loud to the whole group. We practice the discipline of reading Scripture together.

We pray for the nations together.

Most Christians understand that mission matters. But how much do we really know about the nations? How often do we intentionally pray for the nations?

Every week one of our group members presents one of 100 least-reached people groups in the world to the rest of the group. We learn about their culture, their religious background, their greatest needs, and how we can pray for that people group specifically.

We pray together.

Prayer is foundational to the spiritual life of every believer. So, in small group we pray together. Every week one member volunteers to lead the prayer time at the upcoming group meeting. We offer many resources to groups to help make group prayer meaningful and transformational for every small group.

Make disciples. Multiply Disciple Makers.

There is nothing novel or proprietary about how we do small groups at First Sachse. We simply encourage our groups to do the things that groups of believers have always done. But doing these things has a powerful effect on your spiritual life.

If you are comfortable reading the Bible in front of others, if you have cultivated a heart for the nations, if you can talk about God with others and feel confident in your ability to pray with others or for others, then you can make disciples. You can multiply disciple makers.
